Our History

Seekers Christian Fellowship began as a monthly outreach ministry in 1991 in Hamilton, ON. Under the mission statement “Reaching Out With Love”, our founding pastor sought to unite Sri Lankan immigrants to Canada in the love of Christ. Over the next 15 years the ministry grew and diversified, by the sovereign grace of God, such that a multicultural church was planted in Mississauga, ON (2007). God has continued to give gospel growth to our church family since then. SCF partnered with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada and was graciously hosted at Erin Mills Baptist Church until 2020, when God led us to our current location at Kenmuir Baptist Church.

Our Servant Team

SCF is led by a plurality of qualified elders, deacons, and servant-hearted members under the shepherding of Senior Pastor Ronald Jeyaseelan. Each member of the servant team is responsible for different ministry work but we are all committed to fulfilling the great commission of making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20) in the spirit of the great commandment of loving one another as Christ loved us (John 13:34-35).

Our Doctrine

Seekers Christian Fellowship is a Baptist Church by denomination, within the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada, Heritage Seminary as their affiliate. We are also listed in “The Gospel Coalition” church directory. We gladly stand in the line of Historic Christianity (the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds), the Reformers (the Westminster Confession), and Baptists (The First and Second London Baptist Confessions of 1644 and 1689). It is expected that every member of Seekers Christian Fellowship agree and be held wholly accountable to the 11 points of the following Doctrinal Statement:

1 We believe in one God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
[Ref: (Deuteronomy 6:4), (Matthew 28:19) (2 Corinthians 13:14)]
2 We believe the Bible is the Word of God divinely inspired, infallible, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the supreme authority in all matters on which it speaks.
[Ref: (2 Timothy 3:16), (2 Peter 1:20-21), (Matthew 24:35), (Proverbs 30:5), (1 Thessalonians 5:21)]
3 We believe God created man in His image and for His glory, but through sin, we have become alienated from a sinless God and cannot restore relationship with God by our own efforts.
[Ref: (Genesis 1:27), (Isaiah 43:7), (Romans 3:23), (Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:20)]
4 We believe that God sent His Son Jesus Christ, truly God, truly man to live a sinless life and die an atoning death for the sin of man; in this, God’s love for us is demonstrated.
[Ref: (Romans 8:3, Matthew 16:16), (Colossians 2:9), (John 1:14), (2 Corinthians 5:21), (Romans 6:23), (1 John 2:2), (Romans 5:8)]
5 We believe that Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave; His death and resurrection bring the hope of eternal life to whosoever would believe in Him.
[Ref: (Matthew 28:5-6, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8), (Romans 6:6-11), (John 3:16)]
6 We believe that by the free gift of God’s grace, through faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we are justified and can have relationship with God.
[Ref: (Ephesians 2:8-9), (Romans 4:4-5), (Romans 5:1)]
7 We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, regenerating and sanctifying them to the likeness of Jesus Christ; it is the Holy Spirit’s witness which assures salvation.
[Ref: (Acts 2:38), (John 3:5-7), (2 Cor 3:18), (Ephesians 1:13-14)]
8 We believe that Jesus Christ is Head of the Church (His Body) and we affirm the observance of biblical ordinances: believer Baptism and remembrance of the Lord’s Supper.
[Ref: (Colossians 1:18), (Acts 2:38), (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)]
9 We believe in the personal second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the regenerate to eternal life and the unregenerate to eternal judgment, and the ultimate victory of the eternal Kingdom of God.
[Ref: (Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 22:7), (John 5:24), (John 3:18, Revelation 20:15), (Revelation 5:9-10)]
10 We believe that all true disciples of Jesus Christ will love God by obeying Him and love others as Christ loved us; without such love, we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
[Ref: (1 John 5:3), (John 13:34), (John 13:35)]
11 We desire to allow freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry to which God has called us.
[Ref: (2 Timothy 3:16-17), (Romans 14:13)]
